Final Assignment

My expectations as a student in UHD 1301 at the beginning of the semester was to learn techniques how to be successful in college. My expectations were met because I actually learned how to study for exams and use my time more wisely. After having articles and presentations about how college was different than high school at some point. Towards the end we learned more specifically over digital media. Some features I would like to see in this course would be to maybe add lectures that students would have to take notes for a grade. In more detail, taking notes to actually see if their copying word by word or making a paragraph into 3 words. This would be a good lesson to show freshman's how to be more efficient in a college class. Personally I believe that nothing should be removed from the course.
The most positive aspect of this course was having different groups throughout the course because it really held us to high expectations. Another positive thing about this would be that you get to socialize more and get more familiar with the rest of the class. Their wasn't any negative aspects in the course, I felt like UHD 1301 went through all the objectives that were mentioned in the syllabus.

Social Media Consultation

Coca-Cola a major soft drinks company founded in the United States and international company. The company was founded in 1886 located in the Atlanta, Georgia often times the drink is referred to as Coke registered trademark.  In order for companies like Coca-Cola Company stay alive in the new era of social media. In order to push out the company idea in our current times we they use many different kinds sources from Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Pinterest,  and Instagram to push out the idea why you should buy their products. Going more in debt into the importance of the social media tools is that they are always promoting different flavors, doing a worldwide company and by adding a slogan to ‘share with a friend’. Now recently in every Coca-Cola bottle they have names in the back and basically it is saying to share it with that person. This also has a more significant meaning than just that but they're making it a fun way to really sell their product. Throughout Coca-Cola's history they have been using media to get their product out there. Wendy Clary who is the Vice President of Integrated Marketing Communications and Capabilities is in charge of the advertising on social media. The use of social media in the Coca-Cola company has used advertising tools such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, and Flickr to appeal to a variety of people around the globe. Certain posts will be directed to a certain country that may host big event such as the world cup. The company can post an advertisement or commercial on Facebook and someone will end up sharing the video getting Cokes name out there. On Twitter Coke can create a hashtag which will show an event or deal that they made if someone were to click on it and then a list of all the other photos that the hashtag was used for will pop up.This will be mostly recommended to anyone that really is a fan of soda. The social media SWOT for Coca-Cola is that it is a really strong company that has been there for over 100 years that knows how to make the users proud and satisfied. A weakness for this company would be that not all of their drinks are as healthy as they should be. The opportunities it offers basically are scholarships for students at anytype of universities and as well they are some threats ,because every company has people that are just against it and they get sewed.

Group Report #2

Throughout this following weeks we made a lot more agreements towards what we where going to use. We chose Google Slides for the beginning of the project so that we could all throw in their all our information. One thing we considered was making a Prezi presentation once the Google Slides is done the reason behind this is so that it looks more professional. The roles haven't changed much but Justin will be designing the presentation , and Chris and I will be looking for research over what to put in the presentation. We found some research over Media Literacy in which it shows the positive side and the negative side out of it. What I mean is that their is a good side about a boss looking into an employees media and then their is some negative about this. In the presentation we will be mentioning whether it is a more beneficial or not to check the employees media. One of the sources I used is called "What Do Human Managers Think About the Employee's Internet Usage?". This source is really important because it shows recent examples over where this has occurred and how it has affected them. The second source that we use is <http://www.huffingtonpost.com/amanda-augustine/how-social-media-privacy-_b_4174008.html> In which it just relates to how the media has affected college students and stuff like that.

Privacy Scavenger Hunt #7

  1. Epic (epic.org)
    • Epic stands for 'electronic privacy information center', in which it was mentioned on October 23, 2014. It is mainly talking about how they want to minimize or eliminate the collection of personally identifiable information. This basically means that their trying to increase the privacy settings in order to protect everyone's identity.
  2. Wonkblog (http://www.washingtonpost.com/privacy-policy/2011/11/18/gIQASIiaiN_story.html)
    • Wonkblog was published on September 15, 2014 in which goes threw the privacy policy over whatever they post. They mention that the most important thing is protecting the privacy of your personal information. This simply means that while your in your phone, website, tablet this policy will be still applied no matter what. Some changes they have done in the past has been the way they post their items because it wasn't working efficiently.
  3. Deadspin (http://legal.kinja.com/privacy-policy-90190742)
    • Deadspin is a sport website in which they post the most updated information over any sport basically. The privacy policy is slightly different because on each comment you make their is privacy to it as well. This privacy is basically split into very different sections in which it goes more in debt. The problems that are in this website are said by the fans and than they fix it or if it is more serious than they close the website and fix it.

Privacy Blog Assignment#6

Four online services:

  1. Instagram
  2. Facebook
  3. Snapchat
  4. GroupMe
Privacy Settings are & options for privacy:
  1. Instagram is private in my account, if you are not following me you are not able to see it.Their is only 2 options because one is public and the other is private.
  2. Facebook is private for a lot of reasons, the options they offer are public, private and you get to choose who you can make it private to and stuff like that.
  3. Snapchat in general is private for everyone, if you don't have them as a friend you wont be receiving the 10 second pictures or videos.
  4. GroupMe is a app specialized to message anyone in general. This app wont work if your not in a group. The privacy setting is if you are in a group messaging their the only ones that can see the message.
Summary:
I believe that the one with the best privacy setting will be Instagram because without you approving them and they approving you they don't have any way of looking at your post. Instagram in fact recently got a new privacy policy and they wrote a new statement of how its going to help the privacy settings and stuff like that. The worst policy would be probably Facebook because if you choose specific people and you might mess it up so that everyone can see it except the people you blocked. I feel really secure using these services because before I post anything I think it twice because once its in the media will always be even if you delete it. As well the privacy is really advanced now to the point that you only could see their name or picture. Not having enough information to identify you with these settings.

Group Report #1

For this group project  everyone will be getting the work equally done in this case there will be only 3 roles, I will be looking for some examples over how social media has really impacted jobs. My group members will be looking more in debt for the information, and start designing the Prezi or Google presentation. I feel like this is really important to us because whatever you put on the media will always be in there. So if you apply for a job and your boss gets your full name he will be able to search up your ‘Facebook’ and will be able to judge you based on what you have uploaded on their before. More specifically I will look for several articles or news reports that show where this has occurred. As well how it has impacted the jobs in a positive or negative way. Knowing what these examples have caused in the long run will impact the way that companies will grow as well since they will choose people that fit well with what their applying for. I will be looking more in debt with scholarly articles, so that the research is more believable and acceptable.
